JOBS GROWTH WALES+: FAST FORWARD TO THE DESTINATION OF YOUR CHOICE

If you are aged 16-18 years, Jobs Growth Wales+ offer learning programmes to support you to build work-related skills and identify career choices. This is a very flexible programme designed around you to develop new skills and gain recognised qualifications to boost your career options until you venture onto your Apprenticeship, College, or Work journey. To apply you must be:

  • Between 16-18 years old
  • Living in Wales
  • Are not in full-time education, employment or training

What support is available through Jobs Growth Wales+?

Jobs Growth Wales+ has three strands of support:

  • Jobs Growth Wales Plus Engagement
  • Jobs Growth Wales Plus Advancement
  • Jobs Growth Wales Plus Employment
Jobs Growth Wales Plus Engagement

This strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ will help you decide what to do next. . You will agree your Individual Learning Plan with your Jobs Growth Wales+ provider who will use this to organise training and development activities specific to you. Activities could include all or a combination of the following:

  • Voluntary Work
  • Community Projects
  • Work placements with local employers up to 4 weeks at a time
  • Centre-based learning opportunities

On this strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ you can receive a training allowance of up to £30 per week.

There are no minimum hours of attendance per week. However, the full £30 training allowance will only be paid if you attend for 21 hours or more in any 7-day period. The amount of training allowance you receive will depend on the number of hours you participate.

Jobs Growth Wales Plus Advancement

If you have a particular job or career path in mind, this strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ will help you turn this into a reality. You can gain new skills in your chosen subject, and qualifications to help you progress to a higher level. You’ll also gain work experience with local employers.

You might even get a real job interview at the end of your work experience – and the support you receive through Jobs Growth Wales+ will help you to make a good impression. Activities in this strand could include all or a combination of the following:

  • Voluntary Work
  • Community Projects
  • Work placements with local employers up to 4 weeks at a time
  • Centre-based learning opportunities

On this strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ you can receive a training allowance of up to £55 per week.

You must attend for a minimum of 16 hours per week. However, the full £55 training allowance will only be paid if you attend for 30 hours or more in any 7-day period. The amount of training allowance you receive will depend on the number of hours you participate.

Whilst you’re on the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme you’ll also build up annual leave each month without it affecting your training allowance.

Jobs Growth Wales Plus Employment

If you know what you want to do and you’re actively looking and ready to start work, this strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ can help you get a job.

You’ll work closely with your Jobs Growth Wales+ provider who will find you a quality job opportunity with a local employer. You’ll be part of a company, fully signed up to the terms and conditions of the employer you are placed with and get paid.

Employers receive a wage subsidy from the Welsh Government to help pay your salary for the first six months. So, Jobs Growth Wales+ is an attractive programme for employers to get involved with – helping to create more job opportunities to get you into work.  Activities could include all or a combination of the following:

  • Work-related preparation such as essential skills and job expectations
  • Support with confidence & interview techniques
  • Assistance with finding & applying to jobs
  • Coaching & Mentoring during the first six months of your employment

On this strand of Jobs Growth Wales+ you can receive a training allowance of up to £55 per week whilst you are looking for a job.

You must attend for a minimum of 16 hours per week. However, the full £55 training allowance will only be paid if you attend for 30 hours or more in any 7-day period. The amount of training allowance you receive will depend on the number of hours you participate.

When you get a job, instead of a training allowance you’ll earn a proper salary paid at least at National Minimum Wage.

When you’re on the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme you will also build up annual leave each month without it affecting your training allowance or salary.
