The AAT (The Association of Accounting Technicians) is a part-time one year course offered under the AAT training scheme that gives students the opportunity to gain experience of accounts and to progress in their accountancy careers. Courses consist of three levels. Each level represents a qualification in its own right. Students receive a certificate for each level achieved. Registration with AAT is required and the cost of this, plus some examinations, is paid directly to the professional body. The costs below don’t include exam fees payable to the College.
Units include Financial Statements of Limited Companies, Management Accounting Budgeting, Management Accounting Decision and Control, Business Tax, Personal Tax, Credit Management, External Auditing, Cash and Treasury Management, Professional Diploma Synoptic Assessment.
The level 4 qualification consists of 6 assessments. These assessments include Financial Statements of Limited Companies, Management Accounting: Budgeting, Management Accounting: Decision and Control, Credit Management, External Auditing and a Synoptic unit, which incorporates the first three assessments again plus Accounting Systems and Controls. These units provide a good breadth of understanding in professional accountancy and finance skills for those wishing to progress from a level 3 qualification or wishing to maximise career opportunities, move on to chartered accountant status or anyone wishing to start their own business.
Prior knowledge of Level 2 or relevant experience/ qualifications is needed to enter this level of study.
