Course Overview

Access to Higher Education Diploma – Computing & ICT aims to prepare learners for study at Higher Education in a computing or IT related programme.

The course is designed to provide specialist, workrelated units for the computing and IT sector. It aims is to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for related higher education courses or employment. The Computing & IT Diploma provides career development opportunities and a clear progression route to higher education, degree and professional development programmes within the Computing and IT area.

  • Entry Requirements

    Applications can be made from learners who do not hold any formal qualifi cations; however, a skills’ assessment and an interview will need to be undertaken to determine suitability for the course.

    Learners with GCSE Maths and English Language at grade C or above do not need to undertake the skills’ assessment but will have an interview. Applicants should have a positive disposition and deal well with challenges and be motivated, reliable, mature and have evidence of life experience.

  • Career Prospects

    The qualification gives learners the opportunity to progress to foundation degrees in IT or Computing areas, BSc in Computing, BSc in IT Management, higher apprenticeships in a related area and employment in the computing sector, including graphic design, web development, IT technical support and software development.
