The AS Level / A Level Mathematics is a full-time Further Education course within the Sixth Form Academy (SFA). It is designed for students interested in the field of mathematics or those who wish to pursue a career as a mathematician or work in mathematics-related fields.
Mathematics plays a central and essential part in all scientific disciplines, as well as being an important subject in its own right. It is also useful as a support to many Humanities subjects such as Economics, Psychology and Geography. The AS Mathematics syllabus includes topics from Pure Mathematics, Statistics and Mechanics including, Algebra, Co-ordinate Geometry, Calculus, Trigonometry, Kinematics, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Probability.
Applying for A Levels? Click Apply Now on any ONE of the subjects you are interested in studying, complete the online application form and then book an Information Evening to meet the tutors and discuss your preferred choices. You can then choose your subjects on the night!
A minimum of six GCSEs at Grade C or above including Mathematics Grade B (Numeracy Grade C recommended)
A level Mathematics is essential for studying, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or Economics at University, but will be helpful with many other subjects including Chemistry, Biology and Psychology. Career opportunities include; Accountancy, Engineering, Scientist, Actuary, Teaching, and Medicine.
AS Mathematics - The AS course is made up of two compulsory modules. All students studying AS Mathematics from 2017/18 will undertake the same modules, regardless of the other subjects they are studying. The AS Mathematics course represents 40% of the overall A level.
