AS Level / A Level Fine Art (Full-Time)

Course Overview

The AS Level / A Level in Fine Art is an exciting, broad and intensive programme, located in the Sixth Form Academy (SFA) for students who wish to explore and experiment in Fine Art.

The course is an opportunity to explore new media, materials, and techniques key disciplines include drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media. You will be required to analyse your work and that of others selected from the Contemporary and Historical Art world.

You will learn greater skills in interpretation and evaluation by immersing yourself in projects that become increasingly student-led as you choose your themes and areas to investigate. Fine Art is an important specialist component for a broader Art and Design career.

  • Entry Requirements

    A minimum of six GCSEs at Grade C or above including English or Welsh. Must include GCSE Art and Design at Grade C or above. An interest and enthusiasm for Fine Art accompanied by a good portfolio of drawing and painting work.

  • Career Prospects

    Fine Art may be combined with either Arts or Science subjects which provide career opportunities in a variety of areas from Print/ Media, Illustration, Television, Film and Video, Computer-Aided Design, Textiles, Photography, Stained Glass, Youth and Community Work, Architecture, and Arts Management.

    Other career options are Education, Art Therapy, Criticism and Journalism.
