Travel and Tourism Levels 1 & 2 is a full-time course. This is designed for students who are interested in the holiday and leisure industry, which is widely recognised to be the largest commercial service sector industry in the world. You will explore sector by studying a variety of units. This is located in the Business Tourism Management (BTM) department.
Assessment for the Level 1 qualification will be a combination of written and practical assignments which will be completed during the first six weeks of the course.
Following the successful completion of the Level 1 course, you will be able to continue your studies at Level 2. The Level 2 Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism consists of six units: two mandatory and four optional units.
Subjects that you will study will include: Customer Service, Travel and Tourism Destinations, The Hospitality Industry, Airports and Airlines and Organising Events. You will have the opportunity to visit attractions and tourism destinations which will provide you with an insight into the industry and allow you to talk to people working in the sector. You will also have the opportunity to re-sit your GCSE Maths and English if necessary.
Two GCSEs at C or above or Level 1 Entry qualification plus an interview
Progression could be to a degree or other Higher Education programme, professional courses or employment.
A course which will help individuals progress to level 3 but also directly in to employment
Students will prepare a varied amount of course work together with a small number of external online examinations. Written assessments are undertaken throughout the course. Students will undertake research in a number of areas and present their findings in written and oral format.
There will be a number of planned trips each academic year and these costs will be shared with students upon application
