The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel & Tourism is a full-time, one-year further education course designed to introduce you to the way travel and tourism businesses operate. This course is designed for students who are interested in the holiday and leisure industry, which is widely recognised to be the largest commercial service sector industry in the world. This is located in the Business Tourism Management (BTM) department.
Travel sector jobs are projected to grow, as is demand for graduate positions, and this programme will provide you with transferable skills that will prepare you for future study, the world of work in travel and tourism and beyond. In addition to the fundamental principles of the industry, you will learn about the importance of the UK as a tourist destination and the importance of excellent customer service to the success of organisations. Classroom learning is supplemented by visits to tourist attractions and other relevant destinations, and guest lectures from industry experts providing real-world examples of how the industry operates.
Welsh Baccalaureate 2 GCSEs at C Grade or above, or equivalent
Successful completion of the course allows you to progress onto the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Travel & Tourism. Alternatively, you could seek employment in travel and tourism-related disciplines, including airport staff, cabin crew, travel agent, working in visitor attractions, overseas representative, or event planning and marketing.
Specialist units will show you how visitor attractions are developed and you will learn about the impact of natural disasters, terrorism and other factors that affect tourism on a worldwide scale.
