BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Public Services (Full-Time)

Course Overview

The Level 2 Extended Certificate in Public Services is a full-time one-year course designed for students who are interested in a career in Public Services, such as Police, Fire Services and Armed Forces.

Students will have the opportunity to visit a range of services such as the Fire Service, Paramedics and the Police Force as well as a number of the Armed Forces. All students will be able to join the Combined Cadet Force based at Llandarcy.

Students will study sample subjects such as:
-The Role and Work of the Public Services
-Sport and Recreation in the Public Services
-Citizenship, Society and the Public Services
-Multi-Day Expedition Experience

  • Entry Requirements

    2 GCSEs at Grade C or above.

  • Career Prospects

    Students can progress onto the BTEC National Diploma in Uniformed Public Services (UPS) at NPTC or employment in one of the Uniformed Public Services such as the Royal Navy, Police Force, Army, the Fire Service and others.

  • Assessment

    Two of the subjects are exam-based with the remaining subjects being assessed and graded on coursework for which an overall grade is awarded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. Assessment is a mixture of written and practical assessments, which are often linked to visits and practical activities with many of the Public Services, such as the Police, Fire Service, Army, Royal Navy and others.
