The aim of all sports people is to maximise their performance on the day of competition. This course looks at sports performance from a scientific angle and studies all the major topics which will affect the quality of a sporting performance. From this knowledge, students can then apply the information to improve and maximise their own sporting potential as well as that of others they might instruct. Units will include: Sport & Exercise Physiology, Sport & Exercise Psychology, Fitness Testing, Sports Injuries, Analysis of Sports Performance, Practical Individual/Team Sport, Sports Nutrition and Sport & Exercise Massage. This is located in the Sport and Public Services (SPS) department.
Subject specific GCSEs as requested and/or Level 2 Qualification in Sport or Public Services. Maths or English GCSEs or both desirable.
The course provides the opportunity to work in the ever expanding field of sport science, where qualified professionals are increasingly being utilised by all top sports establishments and clubs. Also, students can progress onto the HND in Sport (Coaching and Sport Development).
There will be additional course-related costs.
