Accounting and financial services contribute billions to the UK economy each year. Our Level 3 Business with Accounting course will develop your core knowledge of business and management of company finances and an ideal foundation to pursue a career in these fields, as well as a pathway into further study at degree level here at NPTC Group or at another university.
Supported by industry leading guest speakers and visits this finance and business course provides a foundation in general business management, financial products and services, principles and ethics, along with the knowledge and skills needed to manage your own finances.
(You will also be able to develop your knowledge and practical skills in areas such as marketing and human resources.)
Our Level 3 vocational Business and Accounting course is a BTEC National, widely recognised by industry and higher education. It will provide you with the combination of technical and academic skills to be the commercially aware, highly skilled and work ready individual sought after by employers and universities.
During the first year you will work towards successful completion of the National Foundation Diploma (equivalent to 1.5 A Levels) before progressing onto the National Extended Diploma (equivalent to 3 A Levels). You will also study the Advanced Skills Challenge, Welsh Baccalaureate, equivalent in size and value to an A Level.
Students will undertake optional units which focus on the accounting aspects and this will support those wishing to enter a financial/ accounting profession. All students will have the opportunity to undertake relevant trips and visits and encourgaed to participate in relevant work placement.

Students must have either GCSE English or Maths with a C grade or above and be committed to resitting the missing GCSE.
BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Business
6 GCSE’s in total
Students must have both Maths and English GCSE with grade C or above.
Successful completion of year 1 will enable students to be invited to progress onto Year 2 to further their studies with a view to progressing onto University or full-time employment. Most students progress to higher education to study degrees in Business, Finance or related subjects such as Law.
Students will have the opportunity to enter careers in finance such as in accountancy or banking but this qualification will give you a broad business background for all kinds of financial management and business roles.

Assessment will be a combination of coursework assignments, external examinations and controlled assessments. You will be prepared fully for these.
Students are encouraged to purchase a course textbook and provide the necessary paper, pens, and folders and have sufficient funds on their ID cards to allow them to print work. A laptop or similar is recommended
