The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture is a full-time course with attendance at College over three days per week and with associated work experience. This is suitable for students interested in agricultural methods, who want to work in farming or the agronomy industry. The course covers a range of modules in livestock production and management, grassland and crop management, estate maintenance, machinery operations and financial and business management. This is located in the Catering, Hospitality and Agriculture (CHA) department.
Welsh Baccalaureate National and subject specific GCSEs as requested.
There are excellent prospects to progress to HE from this course and into related employment.
A full range of units will be studied to include animal and crop science and production systems, rural business management, estate maintenance and machinery systems.There will also be a suitable period of relevant work experience. All students will undertake Essential Skills Wales in Application of Number, Communication and Information & Communication Technology – these will be largely integrated into your main course. Students will also complete a First Aid Certificate and Employment Skills qualification. Students are required to attend college 3 days a week and will be expected to find a suitable work placement to attend during the remaining 2 days. Students will also be given the opportunity to complete a range of National Proficiency Test Competency (NPTC) Certificates to include: Safe Use of Sheep Dips, Safe Use of Veterinary Medicines, ATV, Safe Use of Pesticides, Telescopic Handler, Chainsaw.
