Higher National Certificate In Mechanical Engineering – HNC (Part-Time)

Course Overview

Mechanical Engineering is specifically concerned with design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of just about anything that has moveable parts. As a result, there are job opportunities for mechanical engineers in practically every field of work. Industries entered include aerospace, defence and energy as well as the manufacturing of industrial and domestic products, drugs, furniture and foods. Graduates may work in areas of design, research and development, marketing, sales, production management and quality.

  • Entry Requirements

    Entry criteria detail a typical offer but the College considers all applications on an individual basis which means that we could make offers based on qualifications, personal profile and experience. Typical offer: 2 A Levels at E grade or PP/PPP profile from a BTEC Level 3 qualification and five GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications).

  • Career Prospects

    The recognised progression route for this programme is into the second year of the HND programme. Graduates have employment prospects in mechanical engineering, for example: design engineering, design and development engineering, research engineering, concept designers and mechanical engineers.

    The programme will include lectures, practical workshop and tutorial sessions.

    Additional Course Costs

    You are required to provide sufficient stationery for to support your teaching and learning. Printing charges are 0.02p per black and white A4 and 0.06p for a colour A4. On enrolment you are allocated £3.00 for printing costs on your student ID card. Additional credits can be purchased in the libraries. A scientific calculator is required for this programme.
