Course Overview

The HND Mechanical Engineering is specifically concerned with design, development, installation, operation and maintenance of just about anything that has moveable parts. As a result, there are job opportunities for mechanical engineers in practically every field of work. Industries entered include aerospace, defence and energy as well as the manufacturing of industrial and domestic products, drugs, furniture and foods. Graduates may work in areas of design, research and development, marketing, sales, production management and quality.

    Typical offer: 2 A Levels at E grade or PP/PPP profile from a BTEC Level 3 qualification and five GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications).

  • Career Prospects

    The recognised progression route for this programme is into the third year of a BEng programme. Graduates have employment prospects in mechanical engineering, for example: design engineering, design and development engineering, research engineering, concept designers and mechanical engineers.
