Introduction to Teaching (Part-Time)

Course Overview

You will be introduced to the teaching practices that are required for successful performance in the Post-Compulsory Education Sector. It lays the foundations for subsequent work by providing an introduction to the factors that bring about successful learning.

This course is run in partnership with the University of South Wales.

  • Entry Requirements

    A Level 3 qualification relevant to the subject specialism and GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths.

    Student will be expected to complete an online skills check at interview.

  • Career Prospects

    You may progress to the Professional Certificate in Education or the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education.

    Graduates have employment prospects in further and adult education, for example: post 16 teaching assistant or study coach.

  • Course Details

    The programme will include lectures, seminars, tutorial and practical workshops. Students will engage in peer teaching early on to gain experience and feedback. You will have to complete written assignments, practical assessments, reflective journals and a poster presentation as you progress through the programme. Your teaching will be assessed as part of the programme.

    Please note successful completion of this programme will generate a transcript of results (not a certificate).

    • Preparing to Teach
    • Learning & Applying Pedagogy.
  • Assessment

    You will have to complete written assignments, practical assessments, reflective journals and a poster presentation as you progress through the programme. Your teaching will be assessed as part of the programme.
