Course Overview
This engaging Introduction to Automotive Maintenance & Repair (Full-Time) course at NPTC Group of Colleges is a vocationally related qualification designed for students with a keen interest in the automotive industry. The one-year programme introduces the fundamental skills and knowledge common to a range of automotive practices, providing a strong foundation for future study. Students will explore mechanical and electrical systems typically found in light vehicles, alongside introductory accident repair techniques. The course provides an overview of both automotive maintenance and vehicle body repair, supporting progression onto Level 1 automotive qualifications.
Relevant GCSEs at below E grade profile (Entry Level), although practical experience may also be considered. Students may be required to undertake a qualification test, in-house screening and a pre-entry interview. A good level of attendance, commitment and motivation is required.
On successful completion of the course, students can progress onto further automotive study. Progression routes may include: IMI Level 1 Diploma in Automotive Maintenance or IMI Level 1 Diploma in Vehicle Accident Repair

Assessment is carried out through a combination of online examinations and portfolio-based evidence, allowing students to demonstrate both practical competence and underpinning knowledge.
Students will be required to provide personal protective equipment, including safety boots, safety glasses and overalls.
