Level 1 Bricklaying (Full-Time)

Course Overview

The Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students wishing to work as a bricklayer within the construction industry. This is located in the Construction and the Built Environment (CBE) department.

The course will help you develop skills and knowledge crucial to the construction industry. You will study practical bricklaying craft skills, job knowledge and trade techniques, the interpretation of construction drawings and the calculation of materials and costing. Essential Skills Wales qualifications will also be delivered during the course.

All learners are encouraged to participate in Skills Competitions as a means of enhancing their practical ability and developing higher level skills. Many of the School’s learners represent the College in Skills Competitions at a regional, Welsh and UK level and the School enjoys much success as a result of Learners achievements.

We are continuously recognised for excellence in a number of areas including; brickwork, carpentry and joinery, plastering and technical and professional studies. We have well established links with a number of employers and many of our Learners progress into Apprenticeships or Higher Education on completion of their programme of study.

  • Career Prospects

    An NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Trowel Occupations could be gained in your workplace if you are employed or you can progress onto a Level 2 Diploma in bricklaying leading eventually into employment in the construction industry.
