The Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are looking for employment as a carpenter, joiner or within the construction industry. This is located in the Construction and the Built Environment (CBE) department.
It is a practical work-related course, and you will learn by completing practical training tests, written assignments, and online tests. Essential Skills Wales qualifications will also be delivered during the course, which is designed to be equally accessible and relevant for learners aged 16-19, or mature learners, with or without experience. All learners are encouraged to participate in Skills Competitions as a means of enhancing their practical ability and developing higher level skills. Many of the School’s learners represent the College in Skills Competitions at a regional, Welsh and UK level and the School enjoys much success as a result of Learners achievements. We are continuously recognised for excellence in a number of areas including; brickwork, carpentry and joinery, plastering and technical and professional studies. We have well established links with a number of employers and many of our Learners progress into Apprenticeships or Higher Education on completion of their programme of study.
No formal entry requirements (interview).
On successful completion, you can progress to a Level 2 Diploma - NVQ Diploma
Learners will require a range of Personal Protective Equipment and stationary prior to starting on the course including: Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Dust Mask, Calculator, Scale rule, Pens, pencils and paper, A4 lever arch file.
