Course Overview
This part-time course builds on the essential skills and techniques used in cake decorating level 1. It is designed to help you further develop your practical cake decorating techniques and creative confidence whether you want to progress to a higher-level qualification, work in the bakery industry, or start your own cake decorating business. The course focuses on hands-on learning and developing creative confidence through practical sessions.
Day and time: Wednesday, 5pm to 8pm
Start date: 9th September 2026
Duration: One Year (September to June)
Who is this course for?
• Adults with an interest in cake decorating and sugar craft looking to improve their skills
• Learners who have completed a Level 1 Certificate in Cake Decoration
• Those aiming to progress to a Level 3 course or explore employment or self-employment in baking
What you will learn
• How to work with royal icing, sugar paste, marzipan and other modelling pastes
• Techniques for basic piping, sugar paste flowers and decorative finishes
• How to design and produce a decorated gateau and simple cake designs
On successful completion of the course, you will have developed a wide range of basic cake decorating skills that can support progression to further study or entry-level opportunities in the bakery industry.
