Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying (Full-Time)

Course Overview

The Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in a career as a bricklayer in the construction industry.

It will further enhance the Trowel skills already gained at Level 1 and will cover practical craft skills, job knowledge and advanced trade techniques. This will include cavity walls, arches, a range of different bonds including brick thick, English and Flemish bonds, decorative panel work and blockwork.

All learners are encouraged to participate in Skills Competitions as a means of enhancing their practical ability and developing higher level skills. Many of the School’s learners represent the College in Skills Competitions at a regional, Welsh and UK level and the School enjoys much success as a result of Learners achievements.

We are continuously recognised for excellence in a number of areas including; brickwork, carpentry and joinery, plastering and technical and professional studies. We have well established links with a number of employers and many of our Learners progress into Apprenticeships or Higher Education on completion of their programme of study.

  • Entry Requirements

    Welsh Baccalaureate Foundation Pass/ Pass* and the appropriate range of GCSEs A*-E. A Level 1 qualification in Bricklaying

  • Career Prospects

    A NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Trowel Occupations could be gained in your workplace or you can progress onto a Level 3 Diploma in bricklaying or go straight into employment in the construction industry.

  • Additional Costs

    Additional costs include registrations to awarding bodies or site safety cards as well as requiring a range of Personal Protective Equipment and stationary prior to starting on the course including: Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Dust Mask, Calculator, Scale rule, Pens, pencils and paper, A4 lever arch file.
