Course Overview
This Enhanced full-time one year course is designed as pre-apprenticeship course involves the skills and knowledge needed to do the job, ability to organise work and identify and prevent problems for candidates wanting to progress into the field of Fabrication and Welding Engineering environment. There are both practical and theoretical classes in Maintenance techniques, Fabrication and Welding, Electronics and Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Computer-Aided Drafting, 3D printing. Development of soft skills, (Application of Number, Communication, and Digital Literacy. problem-solving, Literacy and Numeracy skills related to engineering environment throughout.

5 GCSE's at grade A*-C including Math’s, English or Welsh
Success in this course gives opportunities to enter into employment and continue to study on a day release basis or enter into a sponsored Modern Apprenticeship with a participating employer or would qualify students for progression to the second year which is the Extended Diploma.
Course Duration: As an enhanced a 40-week programme. 35 weeks will be spent in college for up to 30 hours a week on the main qualifications, while the remainder of the course will be a mixture of work experience and industrial visits. In addition, learners will be linked to a company for work experience placements.
This course requires continual assessment of practical observations, quality checks of engineered components and college-based assignments which will be collated as portfolio evidence to meet the needs of the awarding body. Short written assignments and online examinations are scheduled at key stages throughout the course.
