Course Overview
Are you interested in an exciting career in Engineering? University level study or apprenticeship? Would you like to go into product design, aerospace, manufacturing, electronics, electrical engineering, as a project leader or designer? Enter employment at technician level? You will study a combination of practical and theoretical topics across a broad range of subjects.
This course is made up of practical and theoretical lessons (Milling, Turing, and Fitting) Computer-Aided Drafting, Computer Numerical Control, Modules include: Mechanical Principles and Applications; Mathematics for Engineering Technicians; Engineering Design; Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials; Applications of Mechanical Systems in Engineering; Health and Safety in Engineering + Essential Skills Suite of Qualifications (Application of Number, Communication, and Digital Literacy.

5 GCSE's at grade A*-C including Math’s, English or Welsh
Students can continue their studies or enter into employment and continue to study on a day release basis or enter into a sponsored Modern Apprenticeship with a participating employer. Those who have also successfully completed this course can also continue on the second year BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3.

Course Duration
As an enhanced a 40 week programme. 35 weeks will be spent in college for up to 30 hours a week on the main qualifications, while the remainder of the course will be a mixture of work experience and industrial visits. In addition learners will be linked to a company for work experience placements.
This course requires continual assessment of practical observations, quality checks of engineered components and college based assignments which will be collated as portfolio evidence to meet the needs of the awarding body. Short written assignments and online examinations are scheduled at key stages throughout the course.
