Are you interested in an exciting career in Engineering? Would you like to go into product design, aerospace, manufacturing, electronics, electrical engineering, or the automotive industry as a project leader or designer? Do you want to go on to university level study or enter employment at technician level? You will study a combination of theory, applied theory and practical topics across a broad range of subjects. The modules include: Mechanical Principles and Applications; Electrical and Electronic Principles; Mathematics for Engineering Technicians; Engineering Design; Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials; Applications of Mechanical Systems in Engineering; Health and Safety in Engineering; Principles and Applications of Fluid Mechanics; Engineering Drawing for Technicians.
Year 1 course = 90 credit Diploma. Year 2 course = a further 90 credits providing in total a 180 credit Extended Diploma
5 GCSEs grades A*-C including English, maths, science and 2 of the following: Level 2 Extended Certificate in Engineering with overall MM, merit in Mathematics for Engineering and GCSE maths grade C / 4 or above, good level of attendance, punctuality, behaviour and commitment is also required
Students can continue their studies at University or enter into employment and continue to study on a day release basis or enter into a sponsored Modern Apprenticeship with a participating employer.
Qualification: EAL Engineering Level three Advanced Diploma
Students can continue their studies or enter into employment and continue to study on a day release basis or enter into a sponsored Modern Apprenticeship with a participating employer. Those who have also successfully completed this course can also continue into higher education, such as degree apprenticeships, HNC or HND.
