The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a qualification that has been specifically designed to introduce you to practical beauty therapy skills. Learners will have their beauty therapy skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.
This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
Interview prior to enrolment. Learners must be aged 16 or over and achieved 2 GCSEs.
This qualification may also lead directly into supervised employment in the beauty therapy industry.
The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy and will provide you with the foundation for further learning. It will also enable you to perform your own basic services and to assist others in the salon.
It consists of the art of photographic make-up /basic manicure/pedicure/nail art/skin care/basic make-up application and themed face painting.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments.
Additionally, they will have homework to complete which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a uniform and kit.
