The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is a one-year, full-time course for novices or qualified hairdressers wishing to continue their hairdressing training and gain skills in traditional barbering techniques.
There is no formal entry requirement. Interview prior to enrolment
This qualification may lead directly into employment in the barbering industry as a junior stylist or to work as an independent barber.
It will also allow you to continue your studies to Level 3 Diploma in Barbering and/or advanced skills courses
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in the creative art of cutting men’s hair, the specialist work of cutting facial hair and how to offer a good consultation service for clients.
The part time course will also include an additional qualification, VTCT Level 2 Award in Infection and prevention (COVID – 19) control for Hairdressing and Barbering services.
Underpinning this qualification, you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety whilst working in the barbering industry.
The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Barbering consist of four units of study and assessment:
- Follow Health and Safety Practices in the Salon
- Client Consultation for Hair services
- Cut Facial Hair
- Cut Men’s Hair
In addition, there will be an online exam in VTCT Level 2 Award in Infection and prevention (COVID 19) control for hairdressing and Barbering services.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments. Additionally, they will have homework to complete which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
