Course Overview
VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Studies is a vocational full-time qualification designed for students who are interested in Beauty Therapy. This course includes all the required elements to work effectively as a therapist including, mandatory units covering the following: facial skincare, waxing, eyelash and eyebrow treatments, manicure, pedicure, client care and health and safety.
2 - 3 GCSE grades at C and above.
Interview prior to enrolment.
Career opportunities exist in a variety of contexts as a beauty therapist, including:
- Working in commercial beauty salons
- Working in a retail concession in a department store
- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
There are 5 mandatory units comprising of the following –
• Follow health and safety practice in the salon
• Client care and communication in beauty related industries
• Provide facial skincare Remove hair using waxing techniques
• Provide eyelash and brow treatments
• Provide manicure treatments
• Provide pedicure treatments
There are 2 optional units which are:
• Apply make up
• Provide nail art
Assessment methods include:
- Observation of practical work
- Written assignments
- Oral questioning
- Written end of unit tests
Learners will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments. Additionally, they will have homework to complete which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practicing skills.
In addition, there will be an online exam in VTCT Level 2 Award in Infection and prevention (COVID 19) control for Beauty and Nail services.
Learners will be required to purchase a kit/ tunic and related PPE.
Students will be given the cost of these from course tutors.
