The Level 2 Diploma in Sports Therapy is a full-time one-year further education course. It is designed to provide the skills you need for a career in sport therapy. Course content includes Swedish massage, anatomy and physiology, and sports injuries. You will also learn about nutrition and the basic management of sports injuries. In addition, you will study the effects of exercise, fitness testing, and nutrition for sports performance. You will also study essential key skills, business skills, customer service and employment practices. As part of this course, you will need to undertake a period of work experience in the industry. This is located in the Sport and Public Services (SPS) department.
Age 16-18: a minimum 3 GSCEs at grades C or above (or equivalent). Mature students: interview prior to enrolment.
This qualification will allow you to continue studies to Level 3 Diploma in Sport Therapies.
Assessment methods include: observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning, written end of unit tests. Outside of lessons, you will compile a portfolio of evidence and complete workbooks. You will be expected to practice skills learnt with a local sports club for case study purposes.
