The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is a one-year full-time course for students aged 19 and above who are interested in a career as a hairdresser within the hairdressing and applied therapies industry. This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies department (HAT).
The course covers basic cutting, styling and setting skills, colouring, shampooing and conditioning, client consultation (including the recognition of diseases and disorders of the hair and scalp), basic salon health and safety, essential skills and retail.
Interview prior to enrolment. Students must have either achieved the Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing or achieved 2 GCSEs Grades C or above/or equivalent, one must be English.
This qualification will allow learners to continue their studies to Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing and/or advanced skills courses.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. You will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments. Additionally, you will have work to complete including a portfolio of evidence, workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a uniform and access to a camera (not a mobile phone) would be an advantage for portfolio documentation.
