Course Overview
The VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in a career as a hairdresser within the hairdressing and applied therapies industry.
This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
Interview prior to enrolment. Learners must have achieved the Level 1 Diploma in Hairdressing, plus 2 GCSEs grades D or above.
This qualification may lead directly into employment in a salon as a junior stylist or to work as an independent hairdresser.
This qualification will allow learners to continue their studies to Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing and/or advanced skills courses.
The course will cover basic cutting, styling and setting skills, colouring, shampooing and conditioning, client consultation (including the recognition of diseases and disorders of the hair and scalp), basic salon health and safety, essential skills and retail.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments.
Additionally, they will have homework to complete which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a uniform and kit.
