The VTCT NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in becoming a Beauty Therapist or Beautician. It covers aspects of anatomy and physiology, skin, hair, hair growth, diseases and disorders, and salon health and safety. In addition, it includes day, evening and corrective makeup applications, eyebrow shaping, eyelash and brow tinting, warm waxing, manicures, pedicures, facial treatments and employability skills. This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
Interview prior to enrolment. Learners must be aged 16 or over and achieved 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English, Mathematics and Science.
This qualification will enable learners to work as fully insured professionals, either in a salon or as freelance practitioners. They can continue their studies to Level 3 in Beauty Therapy and photographic, bridal and theatrical techniques of make-up application.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will have homework to complete, which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
