This qualification is a one-year full-time course which will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as an advanced beauty therapist. The qualification is approved and supported through HABIA.
This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
Interview prior to enrolment. Learners must have achieved the NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or an equivalent qualification.
This qualification will enable learners to specialise in specific treatments or progress to Level 4 courses.
Career opportunities may lead directly into employment as a senior beauty therapist in Spas, beauty salons, self-employment or Cruise Liners.
The contents have been developed in line with industry requirements. Within this qualification, you will develop knowledge of face and body electrotherapy specialising in treatments to improve the look of skin and body.
These include non-surgical facelift treatment, lymphatic drainage, muscle toning, facial and body dermabrasion, consulting and advising the client on slimming treatments to enhance the body. Full body Swedish massage, Stone therapy massage, electrical epilation and spray/self manual tanning, health and safety units carrying out salon risk assessments and promoting and selling product.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will be required to bring clients to commercial classes for assessments.
Additionally, they will have homework to complete which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a kit and uniform.
