Hair and beauty learners in glitz and glamour of the red carpet

You’d be forgiven for thinking the Oscars had come to NPTC Group recently, when all the glitz and glamour of a red carpet event was on display at a showcase evening of learners’ work.

Level 2 hair and beauty learners pulled out all the stops, curling, styling and accessorising their willing models in an evening’s celebration of looks inspired by the Oscars.

In February visitors were treated to a taste of Hollywood at the Create an Image Showcase, where learners put their creativity and talent to use to produce some beautiful hair and beauty designs.

Mo Abraham, deputy faculty head for hair and beauty, explained: “Yet again the students displayed incredible creativity to produce an inspiring event, showcasing their hair and beauty skills. The models, representing characters from films as diverse as Avatar to Pocahontas, and Chicago to The Wizard of Oz, were quite amazing and very professionally presented.”

Hair and Beauty Lecturer, Lisa Brandon explained: “The event was part of their main qualifications and WJEC Higher Project. Ann Watson organised the event and it was a great success, we opened it up between 4-6pm and staff, members of the public and staff were invited to come along and look up close at the creations, talk to learners about how they completed their creations, and vote as to their favourite overall creation including display.”

Winners were announced after some very careful consideration. With some stiff competition, joint winners Natasha Puntan and Emma Jeanne were announced in joint first-place with Paige Morgan being a worthy runner-up.

Runner-up, Paige Morgan, took inspiration from the movie King Kong with her model as a screen starlet.
