NPTC Group Supporting Nichola’s Netball Success

Welsh Netball’s Nichola James is making her mark in the sport and this year NPTC Group was keen to support one of its former students.
The 24-year-old who currently lives in Cardiff studied BTEC Sport at Neath Port Talbot College from 2005-2007 after progressing from Dŵr-y-Felin Comprehensive School.
She went on to graduate from Cardiff Met in 2010 with a BSc in Sport and Physical Education and was the Students’ Union Vice-President of Welfare and Education (2010-2011) and Students’ Union President (2011-2012).
Now she works as a 5x60 coordinator in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Performance Director of Cardiff Met Netball, and fits in her training around her busy schedule.
She fondly remembers her time at College and said: “I loved my time at NPTC and the netball! My coach at the time, Judith Thomas, inspired me to play and taught me a lot. I also played for Neath Colts Netball Club since I was 12, which the College had a lot of involvement with and showed great support. These are the main reasons why I am representing my country today.”
Nichola has been fortunate enough to travel with her sport and went to the World Championships (2011- Singapore), World Youth Cup (2009- Cook Islands), Senior European Championships (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013), U19, U21 European Championships along with other international games and Celtic Dragons NSL (2010-current).
Nichola is now hoping to go to the Commonwealth Games this summer and we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
