News : All the world’s a stage for Deryn

Rhian’s exquisite illustrations are top dog

A learner from NPTC Group’s Newtown Campus is celebrating having had three of her exquisite artworks published alongside other talented artists.

Rhian Jones, who is studying for a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art and Design, is currently in her second year at the College. Her beautiful pet portraits capture the character and personality of the animals she draws, and she is now taking a number of commissions for further pieces.

Three of her masterpieces are published in 1,000 Dog Portraits: From the People Who Love Them, by Rockport Publishers. This collection of work by artists from around the globe is available to buy at www.amazon.co.uk. Rhian’s soft pastel illustrations of her Westie, ‘Max’, a Border Collie and a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog will be featured in the collection having submitted them via a website competition. Rhian, whose Facebook page Luna Pet Portraits is regularly gaining more admirers, was delighted when all three entries were chosen for publication.

Lecturer Rob Loupart explained that Rhian had shown excellent “entrepreneurial intent to aid her career opportunities”.
Rhian’s work, along with that of her fellow level 3 learners, will be available to view at the Art and Design department’s exhibition which is due to take place from 24 - 27 June, 2014.
