News : Dance Students to Join the Black Eyed Peas in the Biggest Show on Earth

RESULTS SUCCESS FOR NPTC GROUP OF COLLEGES

Students at NPTC Group of Colleges are celebrating their success after achieving top results at A Level and National and Extended Diploma qualifications.

For the tenth year in succession, the overall pass rate (99.6 per cent) exceeded 99 per cent. In 42 subjects out of the 44 offered, students achieved a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate. Fifty percent of the students sitting A Level exams achieved A* to B grades and 77 per cent of students achieved A* to C grades.

The pass rate at the College has once again exceeded the national benchmark and staff are proud of the students who followed the Gifted and Talented programme (GATE) at Neath Port Talbot Sixth Form Academy where 100 percent of students gained A* to B grades and 90 per cent of those students achieved A* or an A grade.

In addition a record 94 students achieved an excellent outcome of triple distinction grades in the Extended National Diploma qualifications, with 26 students achieving the highest possible grade profile of D*D*D*.

More than 200 students undertook the Welsh baccalaureate Advanced Diploma with 72 per cent achieving A*/A grades.

Our Sixth Form Academy continues to be successful and this paves the way for our inclusion in the Seren Hub which supports our gifted and talented students to achieve their academic potential and gain access to the top universities. This support will also be available to our gifted and talented learners who will enrol at our Brecon Beacons Campus for the launch of A Levels in September.”

Joe Mahoney is set for an amazing future after receiving 3 A* Grades at A level in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, he has secured a place at Cardiff University to study Physics.

Courtney Wagstaff received a fantastic A*, A* A in her English Literature, Creative Writing and English Language A Levels. She is now off to Nottingham University to study Creative Writing. On receiving her results she said ‘’My time at NPTC Group of Colleges was amazing, I was able to explore different areas of creative writing such as poetry that I would have been too scared to try if it weren’t for the encouragement of my lecturers.’’

Lauren Wood: A*, A, B, going on to study History at Cardiff University;

Emma Lewis: B, B, C, going on to study Diagnostic Radiology at Cardiff University;

Joshua Williams: A*, A, B in Computing, Chemistry and Maths, wants to study Computer Science and has been accepted at University;

George Randall: A*,A, B in Maths, Further Maths and Physics going to study Maths and Physics at Bath;

Joseph Cavalli Price: A*, B, B in English Literature, History and Music, has been accepted at Cardiff University to study Music;

Ashley Davies-Lyons: A*, A*,A, B in Maths Statistics, Computing, Physics and History, to study Computer Science at Imperial;

Gethin Rees Thomas: A*, A*,A* in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, will study medicine in Cardiff University;

Rochelle Proctor; A*, A* C in Law, Sociology and German, going to study Law. Rochelle is taking a gap year and plans to go to university in 2016.

Sarah Williams; A, A, A in History, Biology and Welsh.

Sarah Thomas; A, A, B in Biology, Chemistry and Art. Accepted at Aberystwyth University;

Hannah Crowther; A*, A, B in Biology, Chemistry and Physical Education. Accepted at Liverpool University to study Anatomy and Physiology;

Vocational

Joe Evans, a BTEC level 3 in IT student from NPTC Group of Colleges, received a triple starred distinction and has secured a place at Swansea University to study Computer Science. On receiving his results he said ‘’I thoroughly enjoyed my time in College, the ICT lecturers at NPTC Group of Colleges were fantastic, they really treated me as an individual.’’

Calvin Hughes, Passed his BTEC Ext Nat Dip in IT at NPTC Group of Colleges, and was also a World Skills UK Bronze Medallist has secured his dream job as a web developer at Swansea based company Veeqo.

Sam Cowie from NPTC Group of Colleges, is off to Liverpool University to study Computer Information Systems after receiving a triple star distinction in his BTEC level 3 in IT.

Mohammed Athiqule Islam, after passing his BTEC in ICT with a triple distinction is off to the University of South Wales to continue his studies in ICT.

Shannon Gilley; achieved triple distinction in BTEC Level 3 Dance from NPTC Group of Colleges and is off to Shockout Arts, Manchester to study Dance;

Amy Harvey from NPTC Group of Colleges, has landed a place at her dream Musical Theatre College Gamta in Cardiff after receiving an outstanding triple distinction in BTEC Level 3 in Performing arts (Musical Theatre).

Luke Thomas, NPTC Group of Colleges has passed the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and is going to study BA (Hons) Media at Cardiff University.

Amy Jones has passed the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production at NPTC Group of Colleges and is going to study BA (Hons) Journalism and Communications at Cardiff University.
