Three Higher Education, University Campus students from the School of Professional Services at NPTC Group of Colleges have secured places on a prestigious, fully funded Leadership and Management programme in Poland this August.
Congratulations go to Sophia Rabaiotti and Kirsty Skidmore, both in their second year of the BA (Hons) International Tourism and Events Management, and Joseph Evans, currently in his first year of the same course at Higher National Diploma (HND) level. The trio were selected from a competitive pool of applicants across UK universities, following a rigorous application process that included CV and cover letter submissions, an application form, and a 40-minute online interview.
The successful students will travel to Poland for a two-week, all-expenses-paid experience designed to develop leadership, communication, and teamworking skills. The programme is funded by Career Change Wales and will include a blend of classroom-based learning and outdoor challenges.
Sophia said:
“This is a great chance to learn about leadership and management whilst experiencing Poland as a tourist destination.”
Joe added:
“New country; new culture; new experiences; new opportunities.”
The itinerary includes ten days of structured formal and informal training. Classroom sessions will focus on leadership theory and communication, while outdoor activities, delivered by partner organisation EFM, will reinforce these skills through hands-on, practical tasks such as command challenges and team-building exercises. Staff from Career Change Wales (CCW) and the partner organisation will accompany and support the students throughout the experience.
Higher Education Lecturer Janet Beale expressed her pride in the students, saying:
“I’m so proud of our three International Tourism and Event Management degree and HND students – Sophia, Kirsty and Joe who have been successful in being chosen from a strong pool of university applicants from Wales to attend a two-week Leadership and Management outbound course in Poland this summer, fully sponsored by Career Change Wales based in Cardiff. All three will benefit from the opportunity of studying and experiencing the language and culture of a European neighbour whilst improving their management and communication skills that will benefit them greatly on the next stage of their courses and careers. I’m sure they will return to college with happy memories of a busy but fun fortnight.”
This exciting international opportunity not only highlights the strength of the NPTC Group of Colleges Higher Education International Tourism and Events Management programme but also demonstrates the students’ commitment and capability on a national level.
