Sports Students All Set for Africa Thanks to Local Sponsor

Newtown Sports students with their Kenya tour t-shirts, supplied by Richard Morgan from Electric Classic Cars

Sports students at Newtown College were gearing up for the adventure of a lifetime as they collected their official volunteering t‑shirts ahead of their forthcoming two‑week coaching and cultural trip to Kenya.

The t‑shirts were generously sponsored by local company Electric Classic Cars, whose innovative electric vehicle conversions have gained international attention – including their recent work converting several safari vehicles destined for Africa. Their support has helped ensure the students are fully equipped and united as a team before they embark on their journey.

During their time in Kenya, the students will take part in a unique sports and coaching tour, volunteering within local communities and contributing to youth development initiatives. The trip also includes a spectacular three‑day safari, offering students the chance to experience Kenya’s renowned wildlife and landscapes firsthand.

Sports lecturer Gareth Watkins expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, saying:

“We are delighted to be able to offer this to our students, giving them experiences and memories that will last long after the trip. It helps develop a wider awareness of possibilities, growth, and future opportunities – experiences they can build on both personally and professionally.”

The college extends its sincere thanks to Electric Classic Cars for their generous support and for helping make this life‑changing experience possible for the students.
