Course Overview
Look around you and you will see fabrics everywhere, shaping both the function and appearance of the world we live in. From the clothes we wear to the furnishings in our homes, textiles play an essential role in everyday life, and behind each of these products is a designer who began with a simple idea and a willingness to explore.
This beginner-friendly, part-time evening course is designed for adults who want to develop creative skills in textiles in a relaxed and supportive environment. Students will be introduced to fundamental textile techniques while learning how to take inspiration from their surroundings and personal interests. With sustainability at the heart of the course, there is a strong focus on working consciously through the use of recycled materials, natural fabrics and eco-dyeing methods, helping students create responsibly while building confidence and creativity.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Students do not need any previous experience or qualifications in textiles or design. A genuine enthusiasm for learning, creativity and a willingness to explore new skills are essential.
This course is designed to support those who are returning to learning or exploring a new creative interest. It helps students develop practical textile skills, creative confidence and an understanding of sustainable design, which can be applied in both personal and professional contexts.
Students may choose to use the skills gained to develop a creative hobby, support community or voluntary projects, or take their first steps towards further study in art, design or textiles.
