The Level 1/2 Creative Solutions – Accelerated Hairdressing is a full-time Further Education course delivered by NPTC Group of Colleges in partnership with Lee Stafford Education, the first programme of its kind in Wales. Developed by Lee Stafford himself, the course offers an intensive and fast-tracked route into the hairdressing industry, using exclusive techniques and ‘recipes’ that reflect current professional salon practice across the UK.
This course is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career as a hairdresser or barber and who are motivated to progress quickly through industry-recognised qualifications.
An interview is required prior to enrolment. A minimum of two GCSEs is the preferred entry requirement.
This qualification may lead directly to employment within a professional salon as a junior stylist or provide opportunities to work as an independent hairdresser. Successful completion also supports progression to a Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing and/or advanced skills courses.
Learners will also develop their understanding and skills by selecting a number of optional specialist units which include: reception duties; create an image based on a theme; provide scalp massage services; promoting products and services to clients; and colouring hair – the full list of optional units is presented in the learner Record of Assessment book (RoA) (specification).
This qualification’s structure provides learners with the flexibility to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills depending upon their designated career pathway as a hairdresser/stylist.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end-of-unit tests. Students will be required to bring clients into commercial classes for practical assessments.
In addition, students will complete homework tasks including compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising practical skills.
Students will be required to purchase a uniform and kit as part of the course.
