Course Overview
The NPORS N107 Lorry Loader HIAB course provides comprehensive training on the safe and efficient operation of lorry loaders, commonly known as HIABs. The course covers both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including pre-operational checks, machine controls, safe operation, lifting techniques, and post-operational procedures.
This course is designed for individuals with limited or no experience in operating a lorry loader. It is suitable for operators of all abilities, including those who have previously received no formal training.
For those seeking the NPORS CSCS Card, passing the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test within the last two years is required.
Upon successful completion, participants can progress to more advanced NPORS certifications or pursue relevant NVQ qualifications to upgrade their NPORS Red Trained Operators Card to a Blue Competent Operators Card.
This course covers:
- Industry basics, dangers, and operator responsibilities.
- Knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook, regulations, and legislation.
- Identifying and explaining vehicle and crane components and controls.
- Conducting pre-operational checks.
- Configuring and manoeuvring the vehicle and crane.
- Performing safety checks and lifting operations.
- Deploying stabilizers and using load indicators.
- Handling loads, including positioning and securing them.
- Using attachments and minimizing load swing.
- End-of-shift and shutdown procedures.
Participants are assessed through a combination of theory (open questions and multiple choice) and practical tests
