The VTCT VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing is a Full-time Further Education course designed for students who are interested in a career as a hairdresser withing the hairdressing and applied therapies industry. This is located in the Hairdressing and Applied Therapies (HAT) department.
It covers advanced cutting, styling skills, bridal hair, colouring, advanced salon health and safety, client consultation, retail, I.T. and communication skills. As part of this programme, learners will be required to attend work placement at an external organisation for at least 1 day per week and a twilight commercial session at the College.
Interview prior to enrolment. Learners must be aged 18 or over and have achieved the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
This qualification will allow learners to continue their studies to NVQ Level 4 Hairdressing and/or other advanced skills courses.
Assessment methods include observation of practical work, written assignments, oral questioning and written end of unit tests. Learners will have homework to complete, which includes compiling a portfolio of evidence, completing workbooks and practising skills.
Learners will be required to purchase a kit and uniform.
