Brecon Beacons College

We also offer provision in our four town-centre locations: The Beacon (formerly the Old Library), The CWTCH (formerly the Tourist Information Centre), Y Gaer (Brecon Museum & Library) and Watton Mount & The Coach House.

The Beacon is a modern and accessible learning environment that reflects both the heritage of the town and the demands of today’s industries. The Beacon offers a diverse range of provisions, including Health and Social Care, Childcare, and Foundation Studies, alongside a variety of flexible teaching and learning spaces.

Y Gaer is Brecon’s landmark museum and library, which has opened its doors to prospective care workers of the future with its 21st-century learning spaces, as a way of making education more visible and accessible to the community. Our Creative, Visual and Performing Arts courses are delivered at Y Gaer. Y Gaer also hosts the College-run café and the College’s dedicated student library section.

The CWTCH is a community-based venue that offers state-of-the-art computing for students and the public, with ultra-fast internet, video conferencing facilities, flexible working areas and teaching spaces. We deliver our Business, Tourism and Management courses at The CWTCH.

Watton Mount is a Grade II listed building dating from the early to mid-19th century. Previously functioning as a tax office and, more recently, a museum store, the building will now deliver Computing and IT, Civil Engineering, and Hairdressing, Barbering and Applied Therapies courses and house the Lee Stafford Education Academy.
