Jayne Sandells Retires

Brecon Beacons College sends its best wishes to Jayne Sandells, who after a long association with the College is calling it a day and retiring.

Brecon Beacons College has been an important part of Jayne’s life, which started back in 1974 when she made the short trip across the road from Brecon High School.

Then known as Coleg Howel Harris, Jayne completed a secretarial course before taking on roles with Powys County Council, the Local Health Authority, Building Societies and as a Clerk to the Governors of a local primary school.

Jayne returned to the College on a regular basis, completing evening and part time classes. She obtained qualifications in manual typing, word processing and achieved Edexcel NVQ Level 3 in Teaching Assistants.

Also previously known as Coleg Powys, Jayne also studied for a degree in History and English, in association with the University of Wales, Lampeter. Alongside her course she worked on our Brecon campus as a part time admin assistant.

Jayne continued her studies and went on to gain a Masters in Welsh History at Cardiff University in 2009, before returning to Coleg Powys to study for a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education).

She then taught on Access to higher education for two years, before taking on her current role as exams officer at the College.

Jayne will now look to enjoy her retirement by doing some travelling, with crafting (quilting; sewing; knitting) as well as reading in between!

Everybody at NPTC Group of Colleges would like to sincerely thank Jayne for all of her hard work during her long association at Brecon Beacons College.

Good luck for the future, Jayne. We hope to see you soon!
