Lockdown Library Delivers

Staff throughout NPTC Group of Colleges have been doing their work in different ways since lockdown and some have extended their interests to support others. This is true of Newtown College Librarian, Jacinta Jolly who has begun to offer her time to do weekly book deliveries in association with the Powys Libraries Service.

Powys libraries have not been open since lockdown but have offered an ‘Order and Collect Service’. This allows customers to continue to access reading material. For those unable to collect their books, these are delivered by volunteers. Jacinta has been carrying out deliveries of library books within the local area by demand.

Jacinta learned of the library’s new service and as a librarian was keen to support it. The Colleges’ Head of Library Services, Lynne Evans was supportive of her interest to assist the Powys Library Service in this way.

Jacinta said: ‘It’s only a small amount of time each week and it seemed like a nice link between the College and the public library and an extension to my role as a librarian.’

To order library books from the Powys library service go to www.powys.gov.uk/orderandcollectbooks or phone the service on 01597 827460.
