Army Outreach at NPTC Group of Colleges

As part of NPTC Group of Colleges ongoing program of Army engagement, allocated groups of students from Public Services Level 3 Sport and Public Service Department enjoyed a day of information provision and activities run by the British Army Outreach Team based in Crickhowell.

The day consisted of an introductory presentation outlining the wide range of roles within the army, including combat, intelligence, medical, engineering, Human Resources, administration, logistics and support and music. This was followed by a series of problem-solving and teamwork exercises. After lunch students then participated in a number of workshops which included cookery and rationing, kit and equipment and camouflage and concealment.
The team of nine army personnel had a breadth of experience with different ranking and roles. They included Privates, Lance Corporals and a Corporal from across, Logistics, HR, Artillery and the Infantry.

The students were enthusiastic in their approach to the challenges set and enjoyed the day. There are plans to set a further engagement later in the year to involve students from a range of subjects areas across the College.
