Colegau Cymru and Nexgen Staff Mobility to Barcelona 2023

Staff at the Colegau Cymru and Nexgen Staff Mobility in Barcelona 2023

This year two staff members from NPTC Group, Naomi Davies and Helen Thomas, visited Barcelona as part of a trip facilitated through the Taith programme and Colegau Cymru. They went to Barcelona to expand and develop their knowledge on the further education sector in Wales. They participated in workshops and discussions with Nexgen, to explore the requirements of the Welsh Baccalaureate from both a practitioner and a leadership perspective.

They both thoroughly enjoyed their experience and Naomi said: “The mobility enabled us to collaborate and co-create international mobility learning experiences that align with the new Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales qualification. During our stay we had the chance to visit and participate in a series of workshops across the iconic Spanish city, including TeamLabs and 42 Barcelona, where we engaged in experiential and innovative learning. We experienced what it was like to learn through collaborative methodology, where there are no traditional classes or professors- this was truly unique and enlightening. We also had fun cooking some traditional Catalonian cuisine”.

The week provided a brilliant experience to understand much more about the new Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales, and the discussions on the new qualification were insightful and productive, which will make such a positive impact on the future of the new qualification. It is clear there is much potential for collaboration and international teaching and learning across the new qualification.

Naomi added “I look forward to continuing these partnerships and for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead”.

WJEC’s new Level 3 Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales qualification is set to develop the skills needed by business, public services, and universities across the UK and internationally. The qualification will be taught across several Schools at NPTC Group of Colleges from September 2023, and has been designed for learners aged 16-19 to take alongside other Level 3 qualifications, including A levels.

We look forward to exploring future opportunities to enable more staff mobilities internationally.
