Colour Run success for Newtown College Business Students

Newtown College students ahead of the colour run

Newtown College business students organised a vibrant and successful Colour Run at Dolerw Park over the weekend raising over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK. The event saw an enthusiastic turnout of around 200 fun runners, walkers and supporters of all ages, with some participants donning creative costumes and others completing the course on piggyback.

The event kicked off with an energetic warm-up session led by the students, setting the tone for a day filled with fun and community spirit. The students dedicated significant time and effort to planning and organising the event, including liaising with local suppliers for equipment, refreshments, delicious treats, and merchandise. Their hard work paid off, as they secured funding from the Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council to support the event.

The course featured flumes of vibrant coloured powder covering runners as they progressed around the track, creating a festive atmosphere. The success of the event was made possible thanks to the generous support of participants, sponsors, and supporters, including Morrisons, Hilltop Honey, the Town Council, Sandwich Bar, Open Newtown, Hafon yr Afon and Maldwyn Harriers.

Business Lecturer at Newtown College Harriet Bailey expressed her pride in the students, stating: “I’m so proud of the learners for achieving such a successful event. If this is what they can achieve with their first event, in the first year the future looks incredibly promising.”
