Newtown College student Shannon Williams, a dedicated student on the Gateway course, Pathway 4, has been offered a part-time role following a year-long supported placement with Agoriad. This achievement highlights the success of the College’s commitment to developing personal and vocational skills through collaborative efforts.

Shannon’s new role at Coed y Dinas, garden centre, Welshpool, involves restocking, creating retail displays, and maintaining the store’s tidiness. She will be working eight hours per week, starting immediately. This opportunity arose from the strong partnership between Newtown College and Agoriad, which focuses on tailored support to help young people build the skills, confidence, and experience needed to progress into work.

Shannon expressed her delight at the offer, stating: “I am thrilled to start my employment with Coed y Dinas. I enjoy working there and I can continue to develop my skills in this role.”

Sarah Welch, Gateway lecturer, shared her excitement, saying: “We are all delighted to hear that Shannon has been offered a part-time job. This is the ideal outcome for our learners who are developing their skills and confidence in the workplace.”

This milestone is a testament to the effectiveness of the Gateway course in preparing students for successful careers and fostering their growth both personally and professionally.
