Course Overview

The Access to Higher Education in Applied Computing course aims to prepare learners to study computing or IT-related programmes at Higher Education level. The course is completed within our Creative Arts and Digital Industries department.

The course is designed to provide specialist, work-related units for the computing and IT sector. It aims to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that are currently in demand in this fast-paced industry sector. It includes areas such as coding, software development and website design, as well as providing crucial IT knowledge needed to underpin further development in this area.

The Applied Computing Diploma provides career development opportunities and a clear progression route to higher education, degrees and professional development programmes within the Computing and IT areas.

The course is designed to offer the content-rich and funded benefits of a one-year full-time course; however, it is delivered over a period of two years to provide the flexibility and support learners returning to study require when they have busy family or work commitments.
