Course Overview
The BTEC HNC/HND in Performance at NPTC Group of Colleges is designed for learners seeking a Higher Education-level qualification within the performing arts. The course provides a rigorous multidisciplinary foundation in acting, dance and musical theatre, combining advanced practical training with critical analysis, research skills and professional practice. Students will engage with a range of contemporary and classical performance methodologies through studio-based practice, rehearsal processes and live or recorded performance work. Emphasis is placed on industry and Higher Education study. technical refinement, creative decision-making, responsiveness to direction and the development of a disciplined, professional work ethic aligned with expectations of the performing arts
- GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or a Level 2 equivalent
- A minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points
- A Level 3 vocational qualification in a related performing arts discipline, or three to four A Levels (ideally including a performing arts subject), and/or substantial relevant performing experience
- All applicants will be required to attend an audition and interview
The qualification prepares students for progression into a range of performance-related pathways, including acting, dance performance, musical theatre and ensemble-based creative practice. The course also develops transferable skills in communication, collaboration, self-management and critical reflection, supporting employment within the creative industries or related professional sectors. As a discrete qualification, the HNC and HND also represent the first and second years of a three-year BA (Hons) degree. On successful completion of the HND, students will receive guidance on progression to a one-year BA (Hons) Top Up degree at an appropriate Higher Education institution.
