BTEC Level 3 in Travel & Tourism with WBQ (Full-Time)
Course Overview
The BTEC Level 3 in Travel and Tourism with WBQ is a full-time, two year further education course designed for students who are interested in the holiday and leisure industry, which is widely recognised to be the largest commercial service sector in the world whilst also studying on the Welsh Baccalaureate course.This is located in the Business Tourism Management (BTM) department.
Travel sector jobs are projected to grow, as is demand for graduate positions, and this programme will provide you with transferrable skills that will prepare you for the world of work in travel and tourism and beyond. In addition to the fundamental principles of the industry, you will learn about tour planning and development, hotel and hospitality management, and event planning and marketing.
6 GCSE’s at grade C or above or equivalent, to include Maths and English. No previous travel and tourism experience required.
The recognised progression route is onto the Foundation Degree in International Tourism and Event Management or similar HE courses. Graduates have employment prospects in travel and tourism related disciplines including airport staff, cabin crew, travel agent, working in visitor attractions, overseas representative, or event planning and marketing.
By studying level 3 Travel and Tourism over the two years, you’ll develop a substantial core of knowledge her at NPTC Group. You will investigate the travel and tourism sector, the business of travel and tourism, the UK as a holiday destination and customer service.
You’ll also study a full range of options, such as: working as a holiday representative, marketing, working for a cruise line and visitor attractions, hospitality operations and the dynamic world of the events industry.
With this qualification, you can consider a broad range of job roles within the UK and overseas. It also provides a well-established route into specialist Higher Education courses in this sector.
Students will prepare a varied amount of course work together with a small number of external online examinations. Written assessments are undertaken throughout the course. Students will undertake research in a number of areas and present their findings in written and oral format.
There will be a number of planned trips each academic year and these costs will be shared with students upon application
